Around 600 chicks of Greater Flamingoes ringed before taking flight

Published the 05/08/2008

On the 6th of August more than 200 people will be taking part in the 30th anniversary of banding Greater Flamingoes. Every year the Tour du Valat rings a sample of chicks born on the Fangassier islet, in the middle of salt marshes owned by the Salins group. This operation allows a better understanding of this out of the ordinary bird. Nowadays, they are studied all around the Mediterranean, thanks to the network of Spanish, Italian and Turkish researchers.
