Inauguration of the flamingoes observation tower

The new flamingoes observation tower, installed at the Fangassier islet, was officially inaugurated on Monday April 7th 2008. Luc Hoffmann, founder of the Tour du Valat, Jean-Paul Taris, President and Jean Jalbert, Director General were present on site to welcome the guests as well as the local press which widely covered the event. |

Such an observation tower, built near by an important colony like that of the Fangassier, allows the researchers to gather a considerable amount of information on the Flamingo and its way of life.
The building of the observation tower was made possible thanks to the financial partnership of SALINS and the Fondation Total pour la biodiversité et la mer. At the inauguration, the guests had the opportunity to visit the installation and to discuss with the SALINS management and the Tour du Valat research team.
