Geographical and temporal patterns in the diet of pintail Anas acuta, wigeon Anas penelope, mallard Anas platyrhynchos and teal Anas crecca in the Western Palearctic

This article provides a synthesis of the diet of four species of dabbling ducks. It shows for example increased consumption of invertebrates during the breeding season and differences in plant taxa consumed depending on latitude.
The article also shows the importance of standardization in future sampling methods to allow comparisons.
